She's Pregnant. You're Shocked.

"I'm pregnant."

Concerned parent

When your daughter first breaks the news to you, you may feel:

  • Shock
  • Anger
  • Disappointment
  • Embarrassment

You may be thinking:

  • "All of our lives are ruined."
  • "Our dreams and plans are shattered."

After your initial anger, shock or disappointment comes the time to help your daughter through this by seeing that she gets appropriate medical attention, both for her well-being and for that of her unborn child. As her parent you need to help your daughter and her child prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.

We encourage you and your daughter to visit a pregnancy center near you for support, information and assistance. Staff and volunteers are trained and prepared to help your family as you face this difficult time together.
